Fixed the MoinMoin issue, at least the old markup problem. Full props to the folks in their IRC channel (shout-outz Thomas) for handholding me through it. I would NOT have found any of the functions on my own in their… rather special documentation, although full marks to them, the info is there if you know how to read their minds enough to know what to search for. ;)
I obviously didn't, so was a bit miffed to be told at first to RTFM. I'd tried doing so, both that day and the previous day. Google and I weren't having much luck, if you remember; everything seemed to assume I was running it on a server, or at least a Linux 'top… until someone pointed me to How To, at least, which gave me a glimmering of light. After that, batch files and cmd ftw. I don't like Windows particularly, but if you claim to support it, it's nice to do so.
Anyway, pages are now imported/processed/migrated/whatever you want to call it, and I took a backup, so HURRAH, never have to do that again!
Before starting the automatic migration process I had to rename a lot of pages called Dogegory|Whatever into Dogegory:Whatever, because the migration process used the pipe character as a separator for something else and that would have mucked it up. The whole reason I used pipes instead of colons in the first place was MoinMoin's 'special' markup circa version 1.5 that used colons in page links.
What this boiled down to was that in the process I ended up manually editing a whole load of pages so I could run the automated script that was supposed to save me manually editing a load of pages. ;) Recursion yay. As a result, in the IRC channel I was accused of being a magnet for markup problems. I can dig that. Markup-Breaking Man, best superhero evar!
What the heck, I did thank them politely and will reward them by trying not to ask them anything horribly convoluted again. ;)
I still have to learn how to use Portable Python enough to be able to run the thing off my portable drive, though. That should be fun… gulp. Apparently the demise of the stand-alone exe that I found so convenient is down to the lack of Windows developers on the project. Shame that.
The katt woke me up nicely this morning with purrs and not too much drool, but spoiled it by revealing that he was only being friendly to me so I'd let him into his mistress's room. Now he's jumped up on the desk and is howling at me, so I'll leave this here and go to work. Yay, work! *dance dance dance*
(Oh, and btw, my hair is short again, even to the point of natural spikiness. I'm sure this will appal my goth and metalhead friends.)
