He was also a perpetual Hard-Done-By Victim (partly because my character, his sister, couldn't stand him, oh noez), so I don't know how his writer could have turned treating a woman as a walking incubator into HIS character being badly treated. Otherwise, looking at it from a writing-speculative-fiction angle, yay for uterine replicators, or babies incubated in a head of cabbage, or something. Or for the really obvious idea, adoption. mhm, I'd think that if you really really want a character that's just as a plot device in your main character's story, writing em yourself rather than asking someone else to do it for you would be the way to go.
