New-born lambs' Rottweiler 'mum'

I would have called them Mint and Sauce.

I read in the did-you-knows that the tradition of lamb with toothpaste mint sauce came about because Lizzy I of England passed a law, to help the wool industry and limit mutton consumption, that sheep could only be eaten with bitter herbs. Some bright spark, presumably after experimenting and failing with horseradish and so on, found out that mint tasted all right. (This story may not be true. Other cultures eat lamb with mint.)
