Animal cruelty convictions are down — but suspended sentences are through the roof, so is this as positive as the BBC and RSPCA are claiming? All the number of convictions tells you is how many people are being (caught and) convicted.
And cruelty is on the rise - warning, photo of badly neglected horse. Video too, if you're that way inclined.
I don't think my blood pressure will be helped by paying attention to any more utterances from Brown, so I'll just stick my fingers in my ears over here. Laalaalaaaa. No mandate, get him out, not that I imagine any of the potential replacements will be very inspiring.
End to marriage privileges now! Extending rights to cohabiting couples is a far smaller step towards fairness and we don't want anybody claiming things are now fine after they're introduced.
When is “too young” to find out you were made from donor gametes?
I don't know. If by some unlikely chance I acquired a kid by a surrogate mother and father, I'd tell it as soon as it was old enough to understand the words involved. What's wrong with it knowing? It's not a particularly major thing, or shouldn't be — keeping it secret or telling the kid when it turns 16 or something makes it out to be more than it is.
Although psychologically I don't think there's a duty to tell the kid at all, it's from the point of view of gene-linked disease susceptibilities and whatnot that it makes sense to. It ought to kickstart an interest in genetic sciences, too, and you get to explain the nature-nurture debate. Life science is exciting!

Let's start a campaign to have her name changed back, sexist bastards!

Oh no. *disgusted* So members of the public are to be allowed this level of access to the police, why? Because they are high up in their god cults. And because they're "trained to think theologically" and "speak prophetically"1, no doubt, because after all these are such useful attributes, especially when a bunch of people your poisonous rival cults stirred up are coming at you with broken bottles.
1 These are special theological terms, which you may not understand, being a mere layaboutperson. (I'm not kidding, people with secular-ish lives; prästermän really do come out with these phrases to justify their specialness. Here's my source.)
Abolish feudal laws now! Either that or everyone in the country must be given the right enshrined in law to declare themselves any noble title they like. I am Duke Wincanton and I'll fight you for it.
