http://wordle.net/ makes word clouds from text. Although it isn’t any use for web development, because it only outputs a graphic. (For text output, use other tag cloud tools.)
Anyway, I put Mews into Wordle. The result (790×346 px) is behind the cut.
(Yes, I selected the colour scheme deliberately…)
No surprise that my main character is the huge word, and Slen’s two favourite supporting characters are next. Ona looks a tiny bit smaller than Prancis, Laima smaller than that (poor Laima), and Ludis… well, the poor chap never has much to say for himself.
We can see from this that I’m given to using “thought” (unsurprisingly), “don’t” and “didn’t” (more surprisingly), and “time” (cool). And that I use simple speech verbs most often. (Very deliberate. Approximately two-thirds of speech verbs in the book, probably more than that by the later stages, are “said”. Of course it’s such a common word that it’s omitted from the cloud.)
I put in the typeset version, so I think the curly apostrophes have confused the thing. I would guess that it normally filters out “I’m” etc.
It can also accept your del.icio.us tags. The geek from whom I heard of it said it was uncomfortably like having his mind read. (Unfortunately I use Furl, so you buzzards can’t pick over my brain, but feel free to share your own!)
